Dr Mashfiqul Siddiqui is a senior orthopaedic and spine surgeon in private practice and a Visiting Consultant at Singapore General Hospital with more than 20 years of clinical experience. He has performed over 5,000 orthopaedic and spinal surgeries to date.
His focus is on getting patients suffering from orthopaedic and spinal problems to become pain-free and return to their functional level as quickly as possible. His areas of interest include neck and back ache, slipped discs in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, scoliosis, degenerative spinal conditions like spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, spinal tumours, spinal fractures, hip and knee osteoarthritis and sports injuries of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle.
Treatment options include appropriate medications, appliances or braces, physiotherapy, exercises, injections into the spine and other parts of the body, minimally invasive day surgery procedures, microscopic, revision/repeat, computer-assisted, navigated or robot-assisted surgeries.
Dr Mash obtained his basic medical degree from the National University of
Singapore and subsequently completed his orthopaedic training in Singapore
becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He subsequently
did further training in spinal surgery at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, University of
Alberta Hospital and the Stollery Children’s Hospital, under renowned spinal
surgeons with both orthopaedic and neurosurgical background. Upon his return to
Singapore, he was active in training resident orthopaedic surgeons to become
specialists. To date, he has performed numerous spinal surgeries including
microdiscectomies, minimally invasive decompressions, minimally invasive spinal
fusions, minimally invasive fracture fixations, scoliosis corrections, artificial disc
replacements, cervical laminoplasties, vertebroplasties, kyphoplasties, spinal tumour
surgeries, revision (re-do/repeat) spinal surgeries and sacrectomies with spinopelvic
fusions. He is well-versed in the usage of two- and three-dimensional (2D and 3D)
computer aided navigation systems and uses them when required for spinal surgery
to improve surgical safety and outcome.
Dr Mash has presented his work at numerous international meetings organised by
the International Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology (SICOT),
American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), North American Spine Society
(NASS), Eurospine, European Society of Sports, Traumatology, Knee Surgery and
Arthroscopy (ESSKA), European Federation of National Associations of
Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT), Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Surgeons
(APOA) and the Singapore Orthopaedic Association. He has also presented at the
Global Spine Congress and the International Meeting on Advanced Spine
Techniques (IMAST). He has numerous publications in local and international journals and is a reviewer for “The Spine Journal”, a peer-reviewed medical journal
that specialises in the field of spinal conditions.
Dr Mash has travelled extensively to multiple countries to lecture and impart his
surgical techniques to aspiring surgeons. Dr Mash is active in volunteer work in the community and is an avid sportsman.
