Low Back Pain

Low back pain is a common condition wherein strain/stress is experienced at the lower back region as a result of an injury to the muscles or tendons, or other medical conditions like arthritis. More often than not, lower back pain cures itself with adequate rest and recovery. However, as the case gets more extreme, various treatments will be required to assist recovery.
Low back pain is often observed to have the following symptoms:
  • Sudden or gradual pain/ache that may radiate down the back of the legs
  • Stiffness
  • Problems with your posture
  • Muscle spasms

Causes of low back pain:

  • Muscle strain from sporting activities like heavy lifting or incorrect posture
  • Disc degeneration and facet joint arthritis
  • Annular tears or slipped discs
  • “Slipped bone” (spondylolisthesis)
  • Fractures in the spine from falls or accidents
  • Spinal tumours
  • Spinal infections
  • Inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis
