Trigger Finger/Thumb

A finger or thumb triggers when it makes a clicking sound on movement and/or gets stuck in a bent (flexed) position. It occurs due to a swelling of the tendon or tendon sheath (covering). This causes the tendon to click (trigger) or get stuck in the tunnel through which it passes when the finger is bent (flexed).

Types of Treatment

  • Physiotherapy/Occupational therapy
  • Anti-inflammatory Medications
  • Injections
  • Release of the Tunnel (Surgery)
