Ingrown Toenails

The commonest toe affected by ingrown toenail is the big toe of the foot. It often occurs due to improper nail cutting. Sometimes the ingrown toenail can cause an infection of the nail folds.

Symptoms of Ingrown Toenail

  • Pain of the big toe
  • Swelling, redness and discharge if there is an infection

Types of Treatment

  • Anti-inflammatory medications
  • Antibiotics
  • Partial or complete removal of the toe nail (under local anaesthesia)
